16 April 1891 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Thursday. 16th [April 1891]. Painted at my portrait all the morning. Lunched at one. Mr Eden fetched us in the steam launch & took us to the Lido. Henry & I accompanied him & Mrs Eden & Mr Guy Hammersley. Nela & Ola came in the sandolo & brought Ida Belmondo & Miss Hammersley brought Edith Bronson. We went to the Favorita & had tea on a bank overlooking the sea. It was quite lovely. The sea very blue. There were slight April showers as we came back. The fruit trees were in bloom & we picked lots of grape hyacinths. I read aloud to Henry for a couple of hours before dinner. Dined alone & went early to bed.
