19 April 1891 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Sunday. 19th April [1891]. We all went to morning church including Henry. Very large congregation. Service by Mr Buchanan who has come to take duty until the new chaplain Mr Hodgson can come in July. Preached extempory—good voice. Afternoon had a visit from Miss Talbot & her niece Miss Fletcher. Emily Talbot was a great friend of mine when we were girls– Her father Talbot of Margam was a very curious man—enormously rich and spent no money—he would not let his daughters marry– One did so in spite of him– The brother died at abt 25—& now the money & places have gone to Emily. We went to fetch Ida Belmondo at 3 & took her to the Eden’s garden—& had tea with them. Mrs Bronson & Edith were there & a Mr & Miss Bell. Had a visit from the Pss of Montenegro. Read aloud to Henry before dinner.
