20 April 1891 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Monday. 20th April [1891]. Gave out stores &c– Made designs for tea cloth embroideries for Blanche. After lunch went out in gondola. Called on Css Valmarana & then met Css Papadopoli & her sister&c– Took Mlle Kwekwitsch from there to Piazza & then called on Ida Belmondo & met Henry & the girls there had tea & came home together. I read to Henry this morning before breakfast & again this evening before dinner—but I was very hoarse. Mme Hurtado, the Bentivoglios, Count Bon, Sr Passini & Ida Bel: dined with us & we had an English party afterwards of people passing thro’ & residents & the Buchanans who thus made acquaintance with the English here. | |
