7 June 1891 — 1 Queen Anne Street
Sunday. 7th June [1891]. Maria fetched me & took me to St Georges Han. Sqr with her. It was Hospital Sunday. Walked home with Nela, Ruth & Virgie. Called at Sir H. Thompson to see if he wd go to the New Gallery after lunch he being out we walked on to call on Mr Thompson Hankey. Blanche & her children also came there & we walked back together. Virgie lunched with us & at 3 we walked down to the New Gallery. I admired Burne Jones’ picture of the adoration of the Magi—an immense water colour– Some parts are very fine. There is a fine portrait of Miss Clough by Shannon—a hideosity by Sargent– There were very few people there but we came away by 4.30 & I was very tired & glad of. Sir Henry Thompson came in for a few minutes later– Read some of Brownings life. Maria fetched away Virgie at 7. We dined with Maria at 25 Pk Crest. Richard was away.
