30 July 1891 — Canford Manor, nr. Wimborne, Dorset | |
Thursday. 30th July [1891]. Still showery. Sat with the children in their sitting room. Lunch at 1.30 & Henry & I left directly after & went off to Motcombe to stay with Merthyr & Theo & Lady Westminster. We went by train to Templecombe & changed trains there. We found Merthyr & Mr Digby Collins in the train returned from a Sherborne horse show. We got to Motcombe just before a thunderstorm began. Had tea—rested, read & dressed for dinner. Henry & Merthyr played cribbage. I saw Lady Westr for a moment. She keeps her room entirely & has a cough & swelled face. | |
