Saturday. 15th August [1891]. Mr Waldegrave had gone when we came down to breakfast. Little Bobbie Wolmer Ld W’s 2nd boy amused us at breakfast & was very friendly. Altho only abt 3 years old he is said to be very clever—& Ld Salisbury says he is the future Prime Minister of England. We left Blackmoor by 11.15 train from Liss. We had to change at Havant—again at Cosham—again at Eastleigh & arrived at Lyndhurst Road—½ late. Maria met us in the carriage & drove us home to Foxbase a house they have taken for the autumn. We were famished & she gave us luncheon & then we sat in the garden– All the Du Cane girls were at home & also Arthur & Richard came from Lawson in the eveng. Sir Edw & Lady Du Cane came over to call & fetch back Dora & May who were at Foxbase for the day. Sir Edmund has a house for the summer close by. Dined at 8. Music—I guitar to Ola’s mandola. | |
