12 September 1891 — Villa Pisani, Vescovana
Saturday. 12th [September 1891]. The Countess astonished us by coming ready dressed at 8.30 while we were at breakfast on the terrace. She was going to the farms to see if the ploughing was going on. When she returned we took a walk in the garden & inspected the well & saw what a success it was. She gave us coffee at 11 & then we drove off to S. Elena & returned to Venice by 12.25 train wh got us in at 1.50. Mr Malcolm met us at the station– Home, had lunch & unpacked. Had tea in my bedroom & at 6 we went for a row before dinner. Mr Malcolm dined with us– He leaves for La Punta tomorrow & we are to follow on Tuesday.
