14 September 1891 — Villa Pisani, Vescovana
Monday. 14th September [1891]. Got up at 7 & had our tea in my room. Breakfast at 9. Wrote &c. Pretty hot weather. After lunch Henry went out in gondola to Stabto & returned for me at 4. We went to the antiquary Moses of the Tower in search of a wedding present for Rachel Gurney who is today married to Lord Dudley– Went out to the Eden’s garden & had tea there. Signor Wiel was there—his wife away in England– Dined at 7. We are very pleased with our new cook’s efforts Bertha Richardson who had been once our kitchen maid under Annie Cole. Went out in gondola walked in Piazza. Band playing—splendid weather.
