24 September 1891 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Thursday. 24th [September 1891]. Henry had a meeting of the Church Committee– Miss Holas came to call & sat some time. Mr Townsend returned with a lot of artists to see our pictures. The autumn has begun– Yesterday’s storm having finished the summer. Miss Constance Jocelyn Ffoulkes came to tea. Henry & I made her acquaintance. She has translated Morelli’s book & Henry has helped her to get it published. She is a pretty ladylike little woman abt 28 & had a great attachment for Morelli to whom she was first attracted by his works. After lunch we went to the Edens garden to tea—met there Lady Harriet & Miss Henry. Began to read aloud to Henry but was prevented by a long visit from Mr & Mrs Curtis. Dined at 7.30. Went out for a row & took a walk in Piazza & met the Shaw Lefevres & walked with them.
