30 September 1891 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Wednesday. 30th [September 1891]. Up to breakfast. Ida Bel. came at 11 & we spent an hour arranging the drawing room furniture & then being very hot & tired I read & rested till lunch time. At 3 Henry & I went out in the sandolo to the Eden’s garden. There we met Bss Oesterreicher & her sister Miss Congreve, Teddy Moore, Mr Hodgson & a friend a young clergyman who objected that the houses at Venice were so dirty outside! Had tea & got some flowers wh I had to put up when we came home– Then read aloud to Henry till dinner. Mr & Mrs Curtis, Mr Ralph Curtis, Mr Oscar Browning, Mr & Mrs Hulton, Mme Villari, & Mrs Constance Jocelyn Ffoulkes dined with us. I taught Mr O. Browning to play Halma in the evening.
