6 October 1891 — Ca’ Capello, Venice  | |
Tuesday. 6th October [1891]. Copied– Wrote &c. Lord & Lady Darnley came to luncheon– Very nice people but she is very quiet & very sad in her manner. Took the Bishop & Mrs S. to the Edens garden returning home abt 5.30. Put up flowers sent by Mrs Eden & Mr Malcolm. Had a dinner in honor of the Bishop consisting of Mr Malcolm, Mme Hurtado, Mr Woods, Mr & Mrs Browning, Mrs Eden, Mr Henley (agent of the P&O) & Mr Hodgson– In the evening we had a party of English residents & some at the hotels—which was pleasant eno—in all abt 40 people. It was over abt 11– Mr & Mrs Copeland Perry & Mr & Mrs Medlycott & daughter, Revd Mr & Mrs Spriggs (all staying at hotels), the Montalbas, Curtis, Hammonds were of the party.  | |
