Thursday. 29th [October 1891]. A very rough night & still blowing hard this morning. Painted– Ola & Dacre went to Murano in morng & to Lido afternoon– Ruth had a toothache & lay on divan in my studio. She read to me while I painted. I went out alone in gondola after lunch. Went to see Ida Belmondo & to leave cards at the Pension Suisse. I had some difficulty in getting there the wind was still so high. Home to tea. Henry took a long walk with Sir Domenic the longest he has taken since his illness. Ruth did not dine down– Dacre & I played Halma after dinner. | |
