30 October 1891 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Friday. 30th [October 1891]. Sir Domenic Colnaghi left us by 10 A.M. train. I painted. Ruth kept her bed all day. It was very cold & there was still a good deal of wind. I busied myself at inventing & cutting out a new apron. At 4 I went out in gondola to see Ersilia Canevaro. There I met Mme Besozzi & her 2 children. Ersilia seemed to be recovering her mind so disturbed by the death of her boy. I went home at 5. Mr Hodgson & Miss Jesse Mare came to tea– I finished my apron by dinner time. Played Halma with Dacre in eveng.
