6 November 1891 — Villa Pisani, Vescovana
Friday. 6th November [1891]. Splendid weather. Up at 8 & after breakfast wrote letters. After lunch made out pattern to send to Blanche for the Garry Hill Industry. Sent her off the gardening apron I have invented & the pattern to ornament it with. Henry went for a drive with the girls. I went to walk in the garden with the Countess & took up her plants &c & there Ola found us at 4.30 when she returned from her drive & she drove us in because of the cold. After tea I read aloud to Henry & we finished reading Whitelocks Embassy to Sweden– We had great fun in the evening over Punch & the travels of two young Englishmen which I read aloud among shouts of laughter– Halma with Ruth & to bed.
