7 November 1891 — Villa Pisani, Vescovana
Saturday. 7th November [1891]. Staying with Countess Pisani. Called at 7 & Henry & I had breakfast in our rooms. After wh Henry wrote in his room—& I in mine. We lunched at 12 & then all went out for a walk in the garden with the Countess—i.e. Olivia & Ruth Du Cane, Henry & I. We accompanied her to the greenhouse & helped to arrange & water the plants & then Henry & I walked up & down in the sunshine & round the garden. When we came in we had tea (abt 4). I had a severe attack of cholic from indigestion to wh I am now often subject—but it passed off. I laid on the sofa in my room & read aloud to Henry. We began a French book Memoires of the Duc de Nivernais by Perey very interesting. I read till dinner time (7 oclock). Played mandola & guitar duetts with Ola—she playing the mandola & I accompanying her on guitar. To bed at 11.
