26 December 1891 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Saturday. 26th December [1891]. Breakfasted in bed—wrote letters &c. Practised guitar. Did not go out. Read aloud to Henry before dinner. Isabel Scobell dined with us & we took her to the Opera Fenice where Malcolm had give us his box. The opera was “Asrael” by young Baron Franchetti. The house was very full– The music very loud & to us very dull. It was however much applauded. We left after the 3rd act—being very tired & half stunned by the noise. It rained most of the day.
