3 January 1892 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Sunday. 3rd January [1892]. A lovely bright day & not very cold. Went to church morning & afternoon & afterwards fetched Henry from the Piazza– It was 4.30 & getting cold so we came straight home. As we arrived at our door a gondola followed us & the Montalbas called out to ask if they might come in—& I begged them to do so & shut the door against any one else & then we had tea very comfortably together, Hilda Henrietta & Clara– They are all charming—so cheerful bright & good natured. Ola & I played a guitar & mandola duett to them & they stayed till about 6– I then read to Henry till dinner. After dinner Henry played patience—Ola the piano & I wrote a letter– News that Kate is going on well– | |
