30 January 1892 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Saturday. 30th January [1892]. I had many letters about dear Mrs Burr’s death & wrote in return. Still lovely weather. After lunch went out with Henry to the Eden’s garden & walked up & down with him. Mr Eden was just leaving as we got there. At 4.30 I called for Ida Bel & she & I went to call on Css Papadopoli whose day it was & there met all the world. The Dss della Grazia came to me afterwards & also Mr Lowther & Mr Farnall came to take leave of us the Sanitary Conference being over & they leave here tomorrow. We dined at 7 & went to the Fenice to hear Africana. It was well given—but long we did not remain to the last Act. Mr Malcolm lent us the box & joined us there.
