9 February 1892 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Tuesday. 9th February [1892]. I wrote letters in the morng & copied Cortelazzo’s MSS memoirs. It was such a fine day that Henry & I set off to go to the Lido after lunch. Ola was to follow with Ida Bel in the sandolo. When we got out of the small canal near Bauer’s we found it was blowing hard & we had to give up the idea & hurried back to stop Ola & found her just starting. Henry & I went to Biraghi’s & then came home early as it was very cold. I read to him in the gondola– Mr Hulton came to tea & brought a Genl. Clark with him who had been a great friend of Mrs Burrs & wanted to hear abt her last illness.
