12 February 1892 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Friday. 12th February [1892]. Being anxious abt the Pss of Montenegro I had some beef tea made & sent to her– Olga wrote me word that her mother was very ill but not dangerously so. I fear much she is mistaken. I wrote letters in morng & gardened—& arranged plants– After lunch went with Henry in gondola to the Lido the Quattro Fontane. It was a lovely day. I read to Henry all the way there & back except at the intervals when we dozed rocked by the movement of the gondola– Henry & I walked on the sands & were just leaving with Ola & Ida Bel joined us having come in the sandolo. In the evening we had our mandoline band practise to which the Stefanis & Della Grazia’s came.
