13 February 1892 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Saturday. 13th [February 1892]. Olga sent to say she wanted more beef tea & her mother is worse– I fear much it will end badly. Wrote letters in morng. Went out with Henry to the Eden’s garden after lunch. Read aloud there & back. We went to call on Mr Eden who received us & is much better & talked of going to the opera tonight wh seemed to us very imprudent. Maria Cozzi came to tea & told us she went to enquire on the Pss of Montenegro & found there had been a consultation of Drs & that she is dying. Mme Alice Levi & Mme Schiff Levi also came to tea & then the Dss della Grazia & her 2 girls. The latter said she would go to enquire & see if she could do anything for poor Olga– I could hardly sleep all night feeling as if I were going thro’ all the sad time with them—all being so fresh in my memory still—what I had witnessed in the death of dear Mrs Burr.
