14 February 1892 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Sunday. 14th February [1892]. Went to church with Ola. Carry Eden came & sat next me & said she heard that there was no hope tho’ the Pss was yet alive. I took Carrie home after church & when we got to her door we were met with the news that all was over—the poor Pss was just dead! And only this day last week she appeared to be in perfect health & was giving a party! After luncheon I went with Henry to the public gardens where we walked. It was a splendid day. I read to him there & back & again after tea. Mr Malcolm dined with us. Ola was very tired & went to bed before dinner. Henry played patience in even. | |
