27 February 1892 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Saturday. 27th [February 1892]. Ola went off to stay with Css Pisani by 10 o’cl train. Regina accompanied her to Padua where Mme Pisani’s maid met her. I breakfasted in bed. Wrote worked. After lunch Carrie Eden came to call. I went out at 3 & took Ida Belmondo out to leave cards. I called on old Css Venier at S. Stefans & found her at home. Home to tea. The Dss della Grazia came to tea also Dr Agostini & the 2 Montalbas (Hilda & Henrietta). After lunch we had a visit from a Mr Thompson proprietor of the Pall Mall Gazette & his wife a Dr of Mr W. H. Smith. They brought letters of introduction from Emilia Riaño. Henry & I dined at 7 & went to the Fenice to see Othello. De Negri as Otello sang very well– We came home early Henry still having a bad cold– Mr Malcolm was there & we in his box. | |
