3 March 1892 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Thursday. 3rd March [1892]. Great was our surprise on getting up this morning to find snow had fallen in the night! We had snow all day today & a strong wind & there was no stirring. I persuaded Henry to remain in bed to nurse his cold till lunch which meal & dinner we took in his library. Miss Ffoulkes came in the morng on foot—but as Henry was not up & she was very wet she did not remain & no one else came near us all day. I read aloud to Henry—& played the guitar in the eveng while Henry played Patience.
