31 March 1892 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Thursday. 31st March [1892]. Splendid morning. The sun rejoices ones heart. Got up early. Spent rather an idle morning guitar &c– Got a telegram from Nela saying she wd join us in Florence with Mrs White & Miss Macmillan. Henry went in open gondola to walk in the P. gardens with Mrs Hanson & Kathleen. I called on Ida Belmondo & then went to see Olga Montenegro on foot– Sat with her some time talking & comforting her & came home at 5.30. Tea. Visit from B & Bss Andrian. Read aloud to Henry for a short time before dinner. M & Mme de Pilat, B & Bss de Hierschel, M. & Marquise Bentivoglio, Ct Canevaro, Mme Hurtado, Prince Gagarin & Mrs Hanson made up our party of 12. Ola & Kathleen dined upstairs. In eveng Princess Batthyany & her friend came & we asked a few people to meet her & had a pleasant evening, Montalbas, Della Grazia, Andrian, Bertholds, &c. | |
