1 May 1892 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Sunday. 1st May [1892]. Went to church with Nela in morning, the church was full to over crowding– The quantities of foreigners here are enormous—many having fled from Paris for fear of the anarchists today being the date fixed for bombs explosions &c. The day was fine but cold & at times overcast. Ida Bel lunched with us. I did not go out again but sat at home & wrote– The Belmondos dined & Ida confided to me her unhappy state of jealousy at her husband—out of wh I tried to laugh & talk her– Mr Symonds also dined with us. All went off quietly & there was no anarchy any where.
