6 May 1892 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Friday. 6th May [1892]. Very fine day but glass down– Practised guitar. Henry went to the Archives. Mrs Osborn & her daughter Laura came to luncheon & afterwards Mrs & Miss Cockerell called. The Osborns stayed till 4– Mme Buchtold & Charlotte called to take leave as they are returning to Hungary. Henry & I & Sir H. Thompson went out in gondola to the Eden’s garden wh was lovely with iris & tulips. Had tea there—walked on the sacca & came home abt 7. Just had time to write letters before dinner. Mr Brown & Miss Montalba dined with us. Ola & Nela went out in sandolo after dinner; lovely moonlight night—but as soon as we went to bed a great wind storm arose & there was thunder also. A storm had threatened in the day but has blown over & returned at night. | |
