9 May 1892 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Monday. 9th May [1892]. I arranged my Iris’ to paint & Sir Henry Thompson came up to my studio & gave his advice. I did not get my canvas wh I had to send & buy, till 12 so I had not much time to work before 1.30 lunch. I went back to it after lunch but at 3.15 Henry came & dragged me away from it much to my disgust. We went to the Lido, the 2 Thompsons with me in gondola & Henry in sandolo with the girls rowing– We had a sort of race wh they won– We landed at S. Elizabetta & walked by the shore to the Favorita. It was fine but not very sunny. Sir H. T. took photos of us on the shore. The gondoliers met us with the tea baskets at the Favorita & we made tea—& then came home– The girls & Mr T. in sandolo, Henry, Sir Henry & I in gondola– Got home abt 6.30 & were greeted with the news that Css Pisani had arrived in town– The girls went off to see her. Mr Thompson dined with Mr Brown– After dinner girls went out in sandolo.
