14 May 1892 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Saturday. 14th May [1892]. Passini came directly after breakfast & began my portrait remaining till 12 after wh Nela & I painted flowers till lunch at 1. Sir Henry T. went to S. Michele to inspect the crematory & returned by 3.30. At 4 I dressed & went with Nela to the Della Grazias to play tennis. Mr Hulton, Mme Hurtado, Mr Moore & Mr Ramsay cousin of Mme Hurtado—the girls of the house & Pierre the son– We got home just in time for 7.30 dinner. Henry, Nela & Sir Henry T. went out in gondola in eveng. Mr Bainbridge, Mr Hodgson’s friend who has come to take his duty came in just as they were going to say Mr Hodgson is worse & they want to send him to an asylum here & he wishes instead to send him to England. Henry advised him to go to the V. Consul. Ola & I, the Dss della Grazia & Maria Lucchese & Mme & Miss Stefani came to the guitar practise & we made a good deal of practise & got on very well– Separated at 11.30. | |
