15 May 1892 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Sunday. 15th May [1892]. To morning church with the girls. A friend of Mr Hodgson’s Mr Bainbridge did the service very nicely. Wrote some letters before lunch. Started out for the Lido soon after 4 with Nela, Henry & Mr Thompson. Ola went to church & then joined us at the Favorita. We landed at S. Elisabetta & there met Mrs & Miss Laura Osborn—& we walked along the shore to the Favorita & were met by the tea baskets & had tea sitting on a bank. The cicati were singing & some men were going about tickling them out of their holes to carry home to keep in cages. We brought the Osborns back in our boats & got in about 6.30. Dined at 7.30 & Mr Bainbridge with us. We all went out directly after dinner to the Piazza & met the Osborns. The band was playing. Home at 10. Henry played patience–
