28 May 1892 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Saturday. 28th [May 1892]. I sat for the last time to Passini who is in despair abt my portrait & says he is not in the vein for good work. He wants to do it again when we return in the autumn. The hot weather has set in & we all feel it rather. Ct Hatzfeldt & Baby left us today to return to Germany by the 4 o’cl train. After luncheon at 2 we had a C.C. band practise as we are to have another serenade on Monday. At 4 had tea & then Henry & I went out in gondola to buy a present for Nela whose birthday is on Monday. We dined at 8 & I went out in gondola with Henry after dinner.
