2 June 1892 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Thursday. 2nd [June 1892]. It was a very hot day. I sewed with the girls in the morng. Went out with Henry after lunch to the cemetery to see to Mrs Burr’s grave. The monument is up but the railings not quite finished. We went on to S. Alvisi to Mr Malcolm’s garden to tea– Ola & Nela joined us there. We dined at 7 & Henry, Nela & I went out in search of a serenade which was advertised to take place at 7.30. There were lots of gondolas & boats abt but no sign of a serenade– After having gone up & down in search of it we gave it up in despair & at 10.30 came home to bed. Ola went out with the Belmondos. We heard the music after we were in bed—& again at 3 A.M.!
