13 June 1892 — 1 Queen Anne Street
Monday. 13th [June 1892]. Henry went to the Levée. After unpacking & arranging my things I went out to do a little shopping. Mrs Arthur Hanson came to lunch. She is now stone deaf & one has to write down everything to her. Her daughter came afterwards to fetch her. She told me much about how the Turkish refugee women were working at Consple & the great sale there is for their embroideries in America. I drove out with Blanche in her Victoria. It was bitterly cold & E Wind. We went to Mme Rigal’s & I ordered an evening dress. We went on to see our sister Constance whose son had a bad accident yesterday. At a working man’s club where he was a tumbler was left on a chair. He sat on it & cut himself badly. Old Lady Drogheda was also calling on Connie. We had tea & then came home. We dined at Wimborne House & took Mama with us. Met Mr Clark there. Only Ivor & his son Henry were at home– Cornelia & the girls are away at Ascot.
