25 June 1892 — 1 Queen Anne Street
Saturday. 25th June [1892]. I went out with Eda Alderson to walk in the Park it now being the fashion for people to ride from 9 till 11 in straw hats & loose jackets. It is very different to when I was a girl. We used to ride from 12 to 2 in plain black habits with high hats like men. Eda left by 3.20 train & returned home to Peterboro to her father. Her eldest brother Augustus who is home from his farm in Manitoba came up for the day & took his mother down to Stanmore Park to see a cricket match as Reggie the younger brother is there at school. Henry & I dined with Lord & Lady Molesworth. A large party the only person we knew was Lady Millais. We waited a long time for Lord & Lady Robartes who never arrived at all. A fine house & every thing very smart. Lord Molesworth is a connection of Henry’s thro’ his mother (the Austens) but we had never met them before–
