28 June 1892 — 1 Queen Anne Street
Tuesday. 28th June [1892]. Mrs Ball came to see me & sat some time in the morning. Mr Vigor also called. Nelly came to lunch & drove with me in afternoon– We took my mother with us. Kate drove with her friend Miss Fraser & Nelly left my carriage at 5 at Albert Gate & went to join her mother for tea. I drove Mama round the Park & home. Arthur Du Cane dined with Kate & me & we went to the St James’ theatre to see “Lady Windermere’s fan” a new play by Oscar Wilde. It is well acted & clever but a very unpleasant subject. Just as we were starting for the play a thunderstorm came on & torrents of rain—quite a tropical storm with constant & vivid lightening wh continued nearly all night. I had tea with Kate in her room on our return before we went to bed.
