29 June 1892 — 1 Queen Anne Street
Wednesday. 29th June [1892]. Kate came into my bed & had breakfast with me & we remained chatting till past 12 o’cl. We drove together after lunch. Called on Cornelia & found her at home. Home to tea & Mrs & Miss Osborn came & then Nelly Alderson brought her friend Miss Fraser to tea. I was just about to undress & rest when Louis Du Cane called so I had only time to dress & go out to dinner. We dined with Lady Farnborough & her niece Miss Laughton. Lady L is nearly blind with cataracts. Met a large party Mr & Mrs James Stern, Lord & Lady Gilbert Erskine, Lore & Lady Mai, but I could not make out whether they are the people who have just established their claim to the peerage or not. Sir Reginald Banwell took me to dinner & at my left sat a Mr Dunn Gardner. He was a friend of the Turks & so we got on well together.
