14 August 1892 — Duffryn House, Mountain Ash, Glamorgan
Sunday. 14th August [1892]. Walked to church at Mountain Ash. A funeral sermon was preached & the mourners 2 girls who had lost their father sat in the pew in front of us. It was a heart rending sight to see even the back of one girl who was bent double with grief sobbing. The other girl looked like a stone & evidently could not cry. It rained a good deal in the afternoon. When I came in from church I went up to see Miss Sorabji who had a violent headache. I soothed her & got her to sleep & after abt 2 hours she woke quite well. I went over the house & saw all the 4 girls bed and sitting rooms. Henry went out with Lord Aberdare & took a long walk to the top of a tip. Pamela sang in the evening & we sat about talking.
