16 August 1892 — Bere Cottage, Bere Regis, Dorset
Tuesday. 16th August [1892]. Breakfast at 9.30. I accompanied Arthur to the river & watched him fish till lunch. Wrote some letters. At 3 drove out with Henry & Nelly in a waggonette. We went thro’ a lovely country & found Mr Post at a place called Chamberlains bridge fishing. We got out & made our tea by the river from my tea basket & then I fished & caught one trout under a lb. Came home to dinner. We chatted & talked in the evening. Arthur’s cottage is next door to Montys & he has fitted it up very comfortably. Before we went to join Mr Post we went to Wool to see the old farm house wh used to be the manor house or a convent & has a curious old chapel now used as a barn—the owner Mrs Peach very kindly did the honors–
