13 October 1892 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Thursday. 13th [October 1892]. Mrs Gardner asked us to lunch with her but we did not go only Mr Colvin went. Mrs Brown came to see me. Mr Colvin returned at 2 & Henry, he & I rowed to the Favorita & walked by the shore to the Elizabetta & rowed home from there. It was a lovely day. We came to the conclusion that Miss Cadogan had better come to stay with us & as she had written to say she decided to stay at the Britannia we went there & asked Lady Kentsford to send her on to us—& she arrived just before dinner. I read aloud to Henry before dinner. We have nearly got thro’ Mrs Piozzi’s recollections of her Italian journey. | |
