15 October 1892 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Saturday. 15th October [1892]. Busy morning writing. After luncheon Miss Cadogan, Miss Sharp & I went over to Palazzo Malcolm to see the house ready for the Empress Frederick who arrived tonight. Took Miss Sharp home & then I left Miss Cadogan at the Britannia to walk with Lord Kentsford & I went on at tour of visits but only found Mrs Bronson at home. Came in to 5 o’cl tea. Read aloud to Henry & then at 6 we all went off to the station to meet the Empress. The train being 15 min. late she did not arrive till ¼ 7, accompanied by Prince Frederick Charles of Hesse & Pss Margaret. They went straight home to Pal. Malcolm– Mr Colvin lunched with the Browns & went to Burano. He also dined with the Bronsons. Mr Malcolm dined with us. He has given up his cook & servants to the Empress & tho’ he sleeps at home in the entresol is to take his meals with us.
