20 November 1892 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Sunday. 20th November [1892]. Henry still breakfasted in bed. Stella was not much better. I did not go to church—but looked after the invalids & read aloud to Henry finishing Tatischeffs work on Napoleon & Alex 1st. Had visits at 5 o’cl from Mr Hulton, Count & Css Pourtalès & Ct Belmondo. The Pourtalès are here for a short time. He is a diplomat lately married & seemed very agreeable. His parents lived in Venice in his childhood & even for a time on the 2nd floor of this very house. Belmondo dined with us. I went up after dinner for Stella & found she again has fever– | |
