11 December 1892 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Sunday. 11th December [1892]. I went to church in the morning & intended to have gone again afternoon but Mrs Eden came after lunch & said the day was lovely & Mr Eden was waiting below in the launch to see if I would go with him. I dressed at once and we went out towards Murano hoping to see the mountains but there was a blue haze wh made them invisible. We went on nearly to Burano & then struck across by a small canal & made our way to the end of the Lido & got back to Venice just as the sun was setting. I walked home from the Edens in order to warm myself as it had been pretty cold coming home. Ersilia Canevaro came to tea and was very pleasant & rational & quite like her ownself before she lost her darling boy. Stella came to read to Henry. Mr & Mrs Dyer called and stayed some time & then took Stella home.
