16 December 1892 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Friday. 16th December [1892]. Sat for my portrait. Heard that Mr Malcolm was unwell. He is not in a good state of health & makes us anxious. I went out with Henry we walked to the Piazza & the gondola met us. We went to say good bye to Mrs Bronson. She & Edith are going to Rome for 3 months. We thought her looking ill & inordinately stout. She has smoked cigarettes to such excess that her heart is affected. I went to see Pss Olga Montenegro who has returned to her grandmother who is ill & very failing. Met the Baronne de Pury there. Home to tea. We had a visit from Mlle Gisella Hellenbach who amused Ola & me by torrents of gossip & descriptions of her ailments. I played the harmonium in the evening.
