18 December 1892 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Sunday. 18th [December 1892]. I was a little better but not able to get up. Mrs Eden came to see me & Countess Canevaro & her sister Maria. Stella also came to read to Henry. Her mother is not well, Mr Malcolm is better– I read a Spanish book “Pyrenees” lent me by Passini by a Jesuit priest—a very good description of Spanish society & the scene laid at the time we were in Spain. It interests me very much tho’ one wonders it should be written by a priest! Stella & Mr Dyer dined here.
