1 January 1893 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Sunday. 1st January [1893]. When Henry got up at 8 he felt so sick & ill he had to get into bed again & there remain till after breakfast. I went to church with Ida Belmondo. Monty went off with Ola– He played the organ. Henry was up to lunch & felt better. I went to afternoon service– Mrs Eden came to see us & I took her to Palazzo Rezzonico on my way to church. The Dyers & Css Canevaro came to tea—Stella played to the Css—Monty accompanied & I turned over his pages. Henry felt so unwell that he was obliged to go to bed when Css Canevaro left. I fear he is in for a bad cold. The Dyers & Mr Woods dined with us & Stella & Monty played Grieg Sonatas & Beethoven in evening. Henry was better & quite warmed as soon as he got to bed & has no fever. I read aloud to him an hour before dinner.
