3 February 1893 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Friday. 3rd February [1893]. I had a headache & remained in bed all day till abt 5 when I lay on the sofa in the studio. Mr & Mrs Dyer & Stella dined with us. They were full of talk about Stella’s having been asked to play at a concert at the Liceo. She had been sounded by Tirindelli & had accepted on condition she had orchestra accompaniment. This had been opposed by Wiel who is on the committee. He wants her to play with the piano—mostly because he wishes to snub Tirindelli who is now leader of the orchestra. We had Sr Cozzi to play in place of Tirindelli who will no longer play in trios. Cozzi plays conscientiously. They played Haydn’s 2nd trio—an andante of Mendelssohns & a Trio of Beethoven. Stella played also 2 solos—Swenson’s romance & the Andante of Bruck. The Pss of Georgia heard her for the 1st time & was delighted as also Bss Landauer.
