7 March 1893 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Tuesday. 7th [March 1893]. We left Venice by the 10.15 train. Ola took Bertha the cook with her as maid & we deposited them at Stanghella. We took Regina with us & she had her little boy with her. We had splendid weather & a reserved carriage as far as Bologna. As soon as we got over the Apenines we began to see spring flowers anemones &c & almond trees in blossom near Florence which we reached at 6.25. Henry & I drove up at once to the Ross’ villa Poggio Gherardo & were glad to get our dinner. The servants brought up the luggage.
