15 May 1893 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Monday. 15th May [1893]. The Princess of Wales, the 2 Princesses, Miss Knowles & Genl Ellis came to call abt 12 o’cl—& stayed some time. The Pss was very kind & pleasant. Would not keep me standing & was sympathetic abt my illness. After luncheon Henry took me to the Eden garden & left me there & I found the Edens alone– While Carry & I were at tea Miss St Clair came to call & stayed some time. She said she thinks of coming to settle at Venice. Henry & Ola came for me about 5– Ola dined with the Wiels—Henry & I alone. He went out in gondola after dinner. I arranged for my packing & then went to bed. | |
