12 December 1893 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Tuesday. 12th December [1893]. Went to the studio & began to draw a little girl’s head—a model sent us by Mr Woods. Home to lunch. It was a foggy morng & rained in afternoon. Before lunch played guitar duet with Pamela– Wrote letters. Read aloud to Henry. Css Canevaro, Maria Cozzi & Iduna Belmondo dined with us– Ersilia sang with Pamela– I was taken with cholic & had to retire very early. These days we have been very much distressed with the acct of how poor Mrs Lyndale killed her husband by giving him the wrong medicine. There is a full report in the Times of her evidence at the inquest which is very affecting.
