22 January 1894 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Monday. 22nd [January 1894]. The man came about putting in the new chimney piece in the corner drawing room– The hair dresser came to wash & cut my hair. Did a little packing after luncheon– Rietti came to show us the iron doors ordered by Mr Clark for Talygarn– I went out with Henry & he left me at Mr Curtis’ where I changed some books for some to take away with us to read. Henry went on to see Css Lutzow– I walked to S. Samuele to call on Pss Hatzfeldt whom I saw. The fog cleared off abt 12 this morng but was quite thick again by 4 o’clock. I packed till tea time. Visits from Mme Thode, Css Marcello, the Prefect’s wife Css Carracciolo—a pretty woman smart & pleasant speaks French & English. Mr & Mrs Carey & Mr Horatio Brown also came & Mr Hulton—then later Mrs Hulton—also Css Lutzow who had been out with Ola to call on Mme Wiel. Packed again till dinner time. Tired—& lazy after dinner. | |
